Five quick ways to get things done

Five ways to improve your accountability and achieve your goals.

Whether it’s running a marathon, setting up a new business, giving up smoking or something else, we can often start with the best of intentions but things slip along the way. Life happens. I get it. So how do you maintain forward momentum to achieve your goals?

1️⃣ Be realistic. If you’re not already a runner, it seems unlikely that you’ll be able to have a goal of running a marathon in 3 hours by next month.

2️⃣ Write it down. Writing your goal down gives it substance and makes it more real and more meaningful. Be concise. Frame it in positive language.

3️⃣ Set a date (and even a time!) by which you will accomplish your goal.

4️⃣ Tell someone else. Or a bunch of people! If a lot of people know you are working towards a goal, you are more likely to stick to your plan to save face.

5️⃣ Be disciplined. You’ll miss some deadlines, you’ll have off days. Life happens. Be disciplined, determined and resilient enough to pick up and carry on from where you left off.
