Why social media engagement isn’t EVERYTHING

“I’m worried people will think I’m annoying/too big for my boots/not an “expert” so why should they listen to me?”

If I had a dollar/pound/euro for every time I heard this kind of thing from clients and people that I speak to, I’d be a rich woman. And honestly? I said those things to myself as well, not so long ago.

We’re all out here, doing our thing and we want to help people. But our fears can hold us back (read more about that when you’re ready!) AND we’re all also hung up on the number of “likes” and comments we get (or don’t get!). It that can be a real downer if you spend time comparing with other people (who might well have been in business longer than you!) It can be handy to remember not to compare your beginning with someone else’s middle.

Let me tell you something. Your message WILL hit people who don’t engage. It might hit them so deeply that they have to take some time to process what it is you’ve said, how your offer makes them feel, or they might just want to hear MORE from you, to make sure that YOU are the person they want to buy from, or work with. Those things might mean they don’t “like” your post, your blog post, your Instagram post. It doesn’t mean your post is no good.

The majority of people who have contacted me and/or become my clients are NOT the ones who like/comment on my social media posts. They are the ones watching in the background.

Here’s a question, which I LOVE, to change the energy around:
