I love a plan and a list, so that I can measure progress and feel productive.
But what about those times when you put everything in place and you’re STILL not making progress?
Perhaps then, it’s time to look a little bit deeper, and be honest with yourself. Are you maybe (just maybe) holding yourself back? We can be our own worst enemies, right? Reluctance or resistance to doing something, to ACTUALLY take action, often masks itself as procrastination. It’s easy to blame “being too busy” or “not knowing where to start” when you get to the end of the day and realise you still haven’t done that thing you’ve been meaning to do for ages – and you’ve put it off again (I know you know the one).
At times like these, it’s useful to ask ourselves some questions…
- What is it that you are holding back on doing?
- Why are you stopping yourself? Why are you REALLY stopping yourself?
- What would it take for you to get the thing done?
- What is the benefit to you of doing this thing?
OK, now go and do it. I know you can.
